CHURCH OF ST. STEPHEN IN ŠTEFANJA GORA
Church of St. Stephen in Štefanja Gora is one of the oldest in the municipality as it was built around 1132, when estates and manors "on mount St. Stephen in Kranjska" were mentioned. "St. Stephen's Chapel" is also mentioned in 1407, but newly built in 1604. The present building dates from 1805, because the earlier one was destroyed by lightning. Author of the main altar is unknown, and two side ones are made by Aleš Janežič. At the name day of St. Stephen (26 December) there is beside the church a traditional blessing of horses.
