ČEŠNJEVEK POND
The ponds Lahovče and Češnjevek, too, are among popular excursion destinations. Together with the forest and other forms of vegetation, they became a proper reservation for various animal species. The ponds themselves are intended for the breeding of various species of fish and fishing, both for beginners as well as for professionals. The order and maintenance is ensured by the local fishing association. The Češnjevek pond is a part of the natural preservation area that has European significance - Nature 2000. The forest stream by the pond offers a living space to the Cordulegaster Heros - the largest dragonfly in Europe.
Češnjevek is a village at the edge of which, even a few decades ago, bricks were manufactured. The caves where clay for bricks was dug were filled with water, forming several ponds.
