Ignacij Borštnik invites you to Cerklje - Open House Weekend at the Borštnik

In Cerklje na Gorenjskem, on July 1, 1858, Ignacij Borštnik was born, the founder of Slovenian professional theater and the first Slovenian professional theater actor.

The main Slovenian theater festival in Maribor is named after him, where the highest Slovenian theater awards are presented, including the Borštnik Ring, the highest lifetime achievement award, given since 1970.

In September, on the anniversary of his death, Cerklje celebrates its municipal holiday.
