About
Set off on a fairy-tale adventure trail across the pastures and forests of Krvavec, where shepherd gnomes have been getting up to mischief since time immemorial. The trail combines hiking, play, discovering nature and learning about shepherding heritage, and has been created primarily for families with children.
On the hunt for the gnomes' spell
The shepherd gnomes have cast a spell over the mountain pasture, so a special task awaits walkers. With the help of the Gnome's Notebook (Škratova beležka), they solve tasks along the trail, search for mysterious symbols and piece together a magic phrase that will help the shepherds break the gnomes' spell.
During the adventure, you will discover the herbs of Krvavec, visit the Gnome's Garden and the Shepherd's Hut, listen to the Mountain of Sounds and learn about the lives of shepherds in days gone by. Along the way, you will also be accompanied by 16 wooden sculptures of animals and gnomes created by local artists.
The route across Krvavec
The trail starts and finishes at Brunarica Sonček, just above the upper station of the cable car. From there, it climbs past Luža to Plaža by Hotel Krvavec, continues towards Blek and then descends back to the starting point.
This well-maintained and clearly marked circular trail offers views towards the Julian and Kamnik–Savinja Alps and the Ljubljana Basin. Good hiking boots and suitable clothing are recommended, as the weather in the mountains can change quickly.

The Gnome's Notebook is your ticket and an integral part of the experience. You can buy it at Brunarica Sonček on Krvavec.
A package including travel on the cable car and the Tiha Dolina four-seater chairlift, together with the Gnome's Notebook, is also available at the ticket office at the RTC Krvavec valley station.

A story that comes to life on the mountain pasture
The trail is based on the picture book O pastirjih in škratih s Krvavca (Of Shepherds and Gnomes from Krvavec), written by Uroš Grilc and illustrated by Gorazd Vahen. The story of two young shepherds and the mischievous gnomes thus leaps off the page and comes to life in the real mountain setting of Krvavec.
The experience is available in Slovenian, English, German, Italian and Czech, and is intended for families as well as nursery and school groups.
