Today sees the start of the 4th edition of the culinary project Okusi kranjskih miz (Flavours of Kranj Tables) in Kranj and the wider Gorenjska (Upper Carniola) region. Between 8 and 24 May 2026, it will once again bring together restaurateurs, local producers and visitors eager for the authentic flavours of Gorenjska. The project is growing year on year, and this year a record 20 inns from six municipalities are taking part – from Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Kranj, Jezersko, Naklo, Preddvor and Tržič. In Cerklje, Bistro Ferment and Gostilna Pod Krvavcem will be treating your taste buds.
This year’s common thread at Okusi kranjskih miz is honey from local apiaries. The chefs will incorporate it into starters, main courses and desserts, offering visitors menus that combine local flavours with contemporary culinary creativity. Special festival menus will be available at all participating inns at a single price of €30.
The project is not intended merely to promote the hospitality sector, but above all to highlight the importance of locally produced food and of links between restaurateurs and local producers. The organisers want to bring the stories behind local ingredients closer to visitors, so the menus will specifically name the Gorenjska farms and suppliers that the produce comes from.
As the organisers point out, the project helps raise the profile of Gorenjska cuisine both across Slovenia and among foreign visitors, while also encouraging people to visit local inns and supporting the development of a sustainable gastronomic offer.
The project was officially presented at a press conference held on 7 May at Brdo pri Kranju. To mark the start of the festival, an accompanying opening event is also being held on Glavni trg (Main Square).
On Friday 8 May, a culinary evening with tastings of dishes from the participating restaurateurs will take place in the centre of Kranj between 16.00 and 22.00. Visitors will be able to buy a tasting voucher for €12 and sample smaller portions of starters, main courses, desserts and drinks. Music will be provided by DJ Udo Brenner.
At the opening event, visitors will also be able to buy vouchers for Okusi kranjskih miz and get further information about the participating inns and this year’s menus.
Reservations are compulsory for the festival dinners at individual inns. Guests can book a slot via the online forms at visitkranj.com/izbrani-dogodki/okusi-kranjskih-miz , where the schedule of visiting days is also published. The organisers recommend that visitors book in good time, as interest in the project grows every year.
