Visiting nature responsibly – let's respect the life around us

The natural surroundings of Cerklje na Gorenjskem are not just a place for recreation but also the habitat of many plants and animals. By behaving responsibly, every visitor can make an important contribution to preserving biodiversity and the tranquillity of nature.

Let's stay on marked trails

Walking off marked trails causes erosion, damages sensitive plant species and disturbs animal habitats.

Let's help protect nature by using marked trails and respecting the guidance on site.

Let's respect the peace of nature

Nature is not an amusement park.

So:

  • let's listen to music through headphones,
  • let's not use portable speakers,
  • let's avoid loud shouting,
  • let's respect the peace and quiet, especially early in the morning and in the evening.

Less noise means less disturbance for wildlife.

Let's reduce light pollution

If we visit nature at night:

  • let's use a torch only when necessary,
  • let's point the light towards the ground,
  • let's not light up forests, meadows or bodies of water,
  • let's not use a flash when photographing animals.

Many animal species are active at night, so strong light disturbs them greatly.

Let's observe animals responsibly

Let's watch animals from a safe distance.

Let's not approach young animals.

Let's not use bait.

Let's not feed wild animals.

When taking photos, let's use the camera's zoom instead of getting closer.

Keep dogs on a lead

A dog running freely in nature can disturb game, birds, grazing animals or other visitors.

In areas where livestock graze or where nature is particularly sensitive, let's always keep our dog on a lead.

Let's respect pastures and farm animals

On mountain pastures and grazing land:

  • let's close pasture gates,
  • let's not feed the animals,
  • let's keep a suitable distance,
  • let's not walk through the herd,
  • if we have a dog, let's keep it under control at all times.

Livestock on mountain pastures play an important role in preserving the cultural landscape.

Let's leave no trace

Let's not leave any of the following in nature:

  • tissues,
  • wet wipes,
  • dog waste bags,
  • cigarette butts,
  • packaging,
  • food scraps.

Even paper tissues take several months to decompose, and wet wipes contain plastic.

Let's protect nature together

Every responsible visitor can make an important contribution to preserving the natural heritage of Cerklje na Gorenjskem.

Let's respect nature, animals and the people who live here. Let's leave nature in the same or an even better state than we found it.

We also invite you to take part in the volunteer amphibian protection campaigns held at the beginning of every year. Together, we help preserve biodiversity and this sensitive environment.

Thank you for helping to keep Cerklje na Gorenjskem clean, green and nature-friendly through your responsible behaviour. Together we are creating a destination we can be proud of – today and for future generations. 🌿
