THE MOUNTAIN KINGDOM OF BIRDS in the Kamnik–Savinja Alps and the eastern Karavanke, and birdwatching
Did you know that the Kamnik–Savinja Alps and the eastern Karavanke are also known as the mountain kingdom of birds?
The area is home to 14 bird species of European importance, including the Eurasian pygmy owl, black grouse, western capercaillie, Tengmalm’s owl and rock ptarmigan. One in every four Eurasian pygmy owls in Slovenia lives right here.
So when you are birdwatching, behave like an ornithologist and:
- put the interests of nature conservation and bird protection above all other interests;
- in your work, and at all other times, do not disturb birds unnecessarily and do not harm them!
- do not endanger other living creatures or nature;
- do not take birds from the wild or keep them in captivity;
- be considerate when photographing birds and nature. Endangered species must not be photographed at the nest!
- conscientiously record all your observations and make sure the data in your notebooks does not become outdated;
- cooperate with your colleagues, help them in their work and maintain good relations with them.
