Birthplace of Ignacij Borštnik
In Cerklje na Gorenjskem stands the birthplace of Ignacij Borštnik – actor, director and teacher, and one of the founders of Slovenian professional theatre.

Museums and galleries
Borštnik’s birthplace can be visited by prior arrangement. The homestead, around 200 years old and built by Borštnik’s grandfather Janez, introduces visitors to the life and work of Ignacij Borštnik (1858–1919), one of the most important figures in Slovenian theatre and the first Slovenian professional actor.
During the visit you can see the preserved original features of the house, display panels on the life and work of Ignacij Borštnik, and a presentation of how people lived more than 100 years ago. As well as Borštnik’s life and career, the visit offers an insight into former life on the homestead.
There is no set admission charge; voluntary contributions are welcome.
