Invitation – Catalogue of local producers of farm produce and products

Invitation – Catalogue of local producers of farm produce and products

As part of the Lokalno GOR project, the Upper Gorenjska Development Agency (Razvojna agencija Zgornje Gorenjske) is preparing a catalogue of local producers of farm produce and products in the Gorenjska (Upper Carniola) region, covering 14 municipalities: Kranjska Gora, Jesenice, Gorje, Bled, Bohinj, Žirovnica, Radovljica, Tržič, Kranj, Naklo, Šenčur, Preddvor, Jezersko and Cerklje na Gorenjskem.

We invite Gorenjska growers and processors who grow and process their own produce to respond to the invitation for a free listing in the catalogue, which will be published in electronic and printed form, with a print run of 15,000 copies. As a collection of useful information, the catalogue will be distributed to Gorenjska municipalities, schools, nurseries, markets and similar. In electronic form, it will be available on the websites of the municipalities listed, the Upper Gorenjska Development Agency and the project partners (BC Naklo, KGZS Kranj, KGZ Sava, KGZ Sloga, MOK, Optifarm). In this way, the providers included will gain greater visibility and better sales of their produce and products. Every participant in the catalogue will also receive a PDF version of the catalogue for their own promotion.

The catalogue can only be produced successfully with your help, so they kindly ask for a few minutes of your time to fill in the application form attached on the next page of the document. The catalogue will feature providers of home-grown produce and home-made products who use raw materials from the Gorenjska region in processing and who produce more than they need for their own use.

The following will be listed for each provider: house name (hišno ime) or farm name, first name and surname, address, telephone, mobile phone, email address, website, point of sale and range of produce and products. The range will be divided into the following categories: milk and dairy products, flour and milled products, vegetables and vegetable products, fruit and fruit products, potatoes, eggs, meat and meat products, honey and other.

Completed and signed applications for a listing in the catalogue will be accepted until Monday, 1 July 2024 at the following address: Razvojna agencija Zgornje Gorenjske, Spodnji Plavž 24e, 4270 Jesenice. Scanned applications may also be sent by email to stasa.polajnar@ragor.si.

For further information, you can call 04 581 34 16 (Staša Polajnar) or send an email to stasa.polajnar@ragor.si.

About the Lokalno GOR project

With the exception of milk and potatoes, the level of local self-sufficiency in Gorenjska is low. However, awareness of the importance of locally produced food is growing among food producers, individuals and public institutions. Food that is grown and processed locally in harmony with nature is tasty, healthy and environmentally friendly. Its production and processing help to preserve the cultural landscape of the countryside and its food heritage.
With the Lokalno GOR project, we aim to:
- raise awareness among producers, individuals, children and public institutions of the importance of locally grown/processed food and food heritage,
- increase the level of local self-sufficiency in the Gorenjska region,
- make healthy, seasonal, locally produced food easier to access by establishing modern market channels and approaches (e.g. a mobile app for buying local food with delivery) between food providers and consumers,
- increase the presence of traditional local food on menus at home and in educational institutions,
- strengthen links between producers under the umbrella of cooperatives,
- preserve the cultural heritage, knowledge and customs of the countryside,
- improve the quality of life.

The project involves producers, individuals, cooperatives, public institutions, children and people with special needs, who, through training sessions, practical workshops, study visits to examples of good practice, expert assistance and promotion, are informed about the positive effects of local food on preserving tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The project is part-financed by the European Union through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), under the CLLD approach – community-led local development – in the 2014–2020 programming period. The project is being implemented within the framework of the LAS Gorenjska košarica local action group.
