The buzz of the Autumn Greeting with Gorenjska Carnations (Pozdrav jeseni z gorenjskimi nageljni) event

The marquee in front of the Jenko’s Lime Tree (Jenkova lipa) was buzzing all weekend, from 6 to 8 September! On Friday evening Ansambel Stil entertained us, on Saturday Ribič Pepe and Čuki thrilled the crowd, and on Sunday afternoon local performers and cultural societies took to the stage. The programme was hosted by the legendary Franc Pestotnik – Podokničar.

The Sunday cultural programme opened with a performance by Dane Novak from the Ignacij Borštnik Cultural Society, who revived the memory of this great theatre artist. Also performing were Folklora Cerklje and Godba Cerklje, the Šenturški oktet, the Liberius Cultural Club together with the folk dance groups of Davorin Jenko Primary School, the combined primary school choirs led by Irma Močnik, opera singer Anton Habjan, the Smolnikar musical family, the Cerklje Pensioners' Association with the sketch Kako do šoferskega izpita (How to Get Your Driving Licence), the excellent school band Vesperi, the Dečve singing group, the Davorin Jenko Male Chamber Choir with its Pod Stražo section, kamishibai storytellers from the Pod Lipo Adergas Cultural Society, the Zarnik musical family, Godba Cerklje, the Štefanci trio and the Gavnarji band, the Dečve singing group, and opera singer Anton Habjan.

At the Cerklje Market (Cerkljanska tržnica), held at the same time, 12 local makers and producers offered their produce and products – from traditional woodenware, dairy products and handicrafts to fresh fruit and vegetables. The Lastovke lacemakers demonstrated how lace is made, and the artists of the Cerklje Pensioners' Association (DU Cerklje) exhibited their artworks.

The medal ceremony for the Cerklje Run (Cerkljanski tek) took place on stage on Saturday, and Karate klub Cerklje added even more excitement to the proceedings. Young creative hands were kept busy at workshops organised by the DMC Society (Društvo DMC).

There was also a contest for the most beautiful carnation! The jury and the audience chose the three finest: 1st place went to Štefka Slatnar from Ambrož pod Krvavcem, 2nd place to Mihaela Stare from Praprotna Polica, and 3rd place to Helena Verbič from Grad.

Welcome to Autumn was also held in the spirit of sustainability. At the venue we used reusable cups, reducing the amount of waste and contributing to a cleaner environment. Thanks to this arrangement and the responsible behaviour of visitors, the venue was quickly cleared after the event and free of unnecessary packaging.

Welcome to Autumn proved that Cerklje lives through music, tradition and community. Thank you to everyone who helped create this wonderful event!
