Successful training for tourism providers: green tourism, linking nature and culture in Cerklje
On Tuesday, 1 October 2024, the Cerklje Tourism Board held a training session for tourism providers, to which members of local societies and key stakeholders were also invited. We focused on the key aspects of sustainable tourism and on adapting tourism to climate change. We were joined by Petra Čad of the Good Place Sustainable Tourism Factory (Zavod Tovarna trajnostnega turizma Good Place), who highlighted the importance of the destination Cerklje na Gorenjskem being included in the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism. We are, in fact, ranked among Slovenia’s leading destinations, which opens the door to many development opportunities.
Petra Čad also presented good practices in adapting to climate change, which affects the development of tourism in ski resorts. This knowledge is key to the long-term sustainable growth of tourism in our region.
Attractive experiences for visitors to Cerklje were presented by Dane Novak, the custodian of the Birthplace of Ignacij Borštnik, and Franci Strupi, owner of the Farm and Beekeeping Museum in Spodnji Brnik. Their presentations gave participants an insight into the rich cultural heritage and the many ways in which guests can enrich their visit to our destination.
We sincerely thank all participants for the excellent turnout and response. After the training, we also visited the newly opened Borštnik Cellar.
We believe that by joining forces we will continue to develop sustainable tourism in our destination and help raise its profile on the Slovenian and international markets.
