THE ŠENČUR GODLARJI VISITED CERKLJE ON SATURDAY
The biggest carnival parade in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola), which members of the Godlarji Society from Šenčur spent almost four months creating, is now behind us. You could see 25 floats with as many as 345 participants. They have been delighting us with their rich collection of fantastic characters for 34 years now.
On Saturday 10 February, despite the cloudy weather, the Šenčur Godlarji staged a spectacular carnival parade. Visitors in imaginative fancy-dress costumes also came to help the Godlarji drive away the winter. More than one thousand two hundred of them gathered in front of Davorin Jenko Primary School.
As usual, the Šenčur Godlarji found the inspiration for many of their floats in current social and political events. We saw everything from the mafia, Barbie and Ken, Borči with his Renault 4 (katrca), witches, the airline Air Šenčur and pirate ships to foresters from Preddvor, clowns, Tina Gaber with Dr Robert Golob, and much, much more …
