The Davorin Jenko Cerklje Chamber Male Choir will soon be entering its 65th year.
So far, 152 singers and 8 choirmasters have passed through its ranks; in 580 performances, the choir has presented more than 600 songs. It is a firm pillar of culture at national and regional level, as well as in its home area beneath Krvavec. The singers regularly put their quality to the test at choir festivals and competitions, and this year choirmaster Neža Križnar Ristič conducted the choir to third place at the Aegis Carminis International Competition in Koper. Choral exchanges are especially close to their hearts. This year, too, they have already joined voices with the Vinko Vodopivec Academic Choir (PAZ) and the Matija Koželj Utik Cultural Society; in May they took part in the International Festival of Male Singing in Ajdovščina, while the project “Sloven'c Slovenca vabi” brought them together with the Ljutomer Octet. They named this year’s annual concert in April “Si vox est, canta!” (meaning ‘If you have a voice, sing!’) – and since they have voices, the Davorinci sing!
