Cerklje na Gorenjskem will mark this year’s Statehood Day with a special cultural event. On Thursday, 25 June 2026, to coincide with the ceremonial opening of the renovated Hribar Memorial Garden and the Statehood Day celebration, Hribar Villa will also be open to visitors free of charge.
On the public holiday, the museum will be open from 15.00 to 20.00, and visitors will be able to view the permanent museum collections free of charge and stroll through the renovated garden, which is an important part of the cultural heritage of Cerklje na Gorenjskem.
Hribar Villa, one of the most recognisable buildings in the town, takes visitors into the life and work of Ivan Hribar, former Mayor of Ljubljana, diplomat and businessman, who left a significant mark on Slovenia. The villa’s renovated rooms also present the history of the building as a former summer residence, the archaeological heritage of the Cerklje area, the story of Slovenian independence and the many architectural features of this precious example of Art Nouveau (Secession) architecture.
The visit is made all the more special by the renovated Hribar Memorial Garden, which, following its restoration, will come alive once again as a place for socialising, remembrance and the cultural life of the town. The ceremonial opening of the garden will thus be an important contribution to preserving and presenting the local cultural heritage.
We invite you to spend Statehood Day at Hribar Villa, discover stories from Slovenian history and experience the unique cultural heritage of Cerklje na Gorenjskem.
