🌸 Join the competition for the most beautiful Gorenjska carnation and the best garden in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola)! 🌸
We are delighted to announce that, for the 24th year running, the Gorenjska Tourist Association (GTZ) is organising the campaign “LET’S BRING THE GORENJSKA CARNATION BACK TO WINDOWS AND BALCONIES”! 🌼🏡
Once almost extinct, the Gorenjska carnation now adorns the windows and balconies of Gorenjska’s towns and villages once again. We are proud to see this symbol of Gorenjska’s folk heritage and tradition finding its place in our homes once more, and above all on mountain huts, where the fresh mountain air helps it to bloom profusely until late autumn.
As part of the Gorenjska Tourist Association’s campaign, the 3 owners of the most beautiful Gorenjska carnations are chosen every year. An award is also presented for the most beautiful garden in Gorenjska – whether fruit, vegetable or flower. We invite all lovers of carnations and well-kept gardens to take part in the competition and help preserve our cultural heritage.
🌟 How can you take part? If you know of a house adorned with wonderful Gorenjska carnations, or a garden that deserves recognition, send us your nominations by the end of August 2024 to:

The call is open until 15 September 2024.
Every autumn, the Gorenjska Tourist Association organises the traditional gathering of Gorenjska tourism workers, where awards are presented for the most beautiful Gorenjska carnations and the most beautiful garden. This year the gathering will take place in October in Železniki. Enter and help preserve our beautiful heritage!
🌺 May the Gorenjska carnation shine once more on our windows and balconies! 🌺
The BEST TREE IN GORENJSKA will also be chosen!
Trees are very important for our environment and form a link between generations. That is why we particularly want to
encourage young people to preserve trees in towns and villages, gardens, forests… and so contribute to
the preservation of trees and the planting of new ones.
Anyone can enter the campaign.
A GTZ committee will select the 5 BEST TREES in Gorenjska and reward those who entered them. The awards
and symbolic prizes will be presented at the annual autumn gathering of Gorenjska tourism
workers in Železniki.
Please send a photo and a short description of your tree, together with your email address and
phone number, by 1 September 2024 to:
gtz@t-2.net or mirjam.pavlic1@gmail.com
