Zgornji Brnik firefighters get a new vehicle

On Thursday, 4 June, members of the Zgornji Brnik volunteer fire brigade (PGD) took delivery of a new GVM 1 Peugeot Boxer fire service vehicle, which will be used to transport firefighters.

The firefighters of PGD Zgornji Brnik are proud of their new acquisition, said their president Aleš Jenko, who presented the new equipment in the new GVM 1 vehicle to twenty-five operational members and to the guests who attended the handover and a short ceremony. The vehicle was ordered in November last year. In his address, Jenko said, among other things, that firefighters of all generations, from the youngest cadets to veterans, are active in the brigade. PGD Zgornji Brnik was founded on 8 March 1908. Today the brigade has 357 members, as many as 119 of them women!

They are aware that successful work calls for a great deal of sacrifice and giving up of free time, whether for call-outs, drills, competitions or, not least, voluntary work days. The Zgornji Brnik firefighters also train continuously so that they can keep up with all new developments. The president of the Brnik firefighters especially thanked the Municipality of Cerklje na Gorenjskem and its Mayor, Franc Čebulj, as well as the Cerklje Firefighters’ Association, for their support.

In addition to the Mayor of the Municipality of Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Franc Čebulj, who praised the brigade’s work to date and wished them safe driving in the new vehicle, the guests at the ceremony included the president and the commander of the Cerklje Firefighters’ Association, Blaž Kaplenik and Metod Kropar, the commander of Civil Protection for the Municipality of Cerklje, Marjan Luskovec, and representatives of the firefighters from PGD Spodnji Brnik-Vopovlje.
