On Thursday, 19 October 2023, a charity concert will be held in Adergas, with the proceeds going towards the restoration of the Ignacij Borštnik Cultural Hall and Davorin Jenko Primary School Cerklje, both of which were devastated in the August floods.
Let us remember the day – 4 August – when floodwaters wreaked havoc across many places in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola); Cerklje suffered damage too. The storm completely destroyed the Cultural Hall, which had a truly wonderful events hall and hosted a great many events, gatherings, performances, music evenings, comedy shows… and now we have lost all of that.
The premises of Davorin Jenko Primary School in Cerklje were also destroyed – the boiler room, classrooms…, which is why pupils are still being taught at various locations around the municipality today. First-, second- and third-year pupils are taught at Davorin Jenko Primary School Cerklje, fourth-year pupils have lessons at the Cerklje Family and Youth Centre and at Kmetijska zadruga Cerklje (Cerklje Agricultural Cooperative), while the fifth-year pupils had no lessons on the first day of school and made up for it with an outdoor school week. They are temporarily being taught in the parish house in Adergas. The heavy downpours at the start of the month did not spare the school gym either.
So you are warmly invited to join us in the beautiful church in Adergas, where we will stand together in unity and so help Cerklje restore its hall.
The charity event will be hosted by Ana Jagodic Dolžan.
